ULI Los Angeles to Host 2001 Leadership ForumJanuary 26, 2001Los Angeles -- The Urban Land Institute Los Angeles District Council will present its 2001 Leadership Forum on Wednesday, April 4 at the Park Hyatt Los Angeles at Century City, 2151 Avenue of the Stars, from 6 to 8 p.m.The featured speaker is Henry G. Cisneros, chairman and chief executive officer of American CityVista, recently formed to develop lower-density, single-family homes and small townhouse complexes in central areas of several of the nation's largest cities, including Los Angeles. American CityVista is a joint venture with Westwood-based KB Homes, one of the largest U.S. homebuilders. Cisneros's career has been dedicated to rebuilding and revitalizing policies that have shaped cities and improved homeownership. As Secretary of the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, he is credited with initiating a major revitalization of many of the nation's public housing developments and formulating policies which have contributed to today's record homeownership rate. As the first Hispanic American mayor of a major U.S. city, San Antonio, he helped rebuild the city's economic base and created jobs through massive infrastructure and downtown improvements making San Antonio one of the most progressive cities in the nation. "This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of our nation's leading authorities on housing and revitalization issues," said Richard A. Lawrence, Chair of the Urban Land Institute Los Angeles District Council.
