Exploiting and Surviving the Winds of Change

Millennium Biltmore Hotel
Los Angeles California

USC Gould School of Law 2008 Symposium on Real Estate Law and Business As Co-Chair of the USC 2008 Symposium on Real Estate Law and Business (held April 24th at the downtown Los Angeles Millennium Biltmore), and President/CEO of The Ratkovich Company, we are writing to urge you to attend this year’s conference. With six dedicated sessions focusing on development and planning, it promises to be the most important real estate law and business conference you will attend this year. We have attended many such conferences, and are confident the 2008 USC Law conference will exceed expectations.

Our lead morning plenary will focus on The Silver Lining in the Housing Storm, and will discuss how the public and private sectors can plan for major development, job growth and economic sustainability by attracting employment-generating anchors for major development projects. Led by Tony Canzoneri (name partner of Brown Winfield Canzoneri Abram Inc.), the panel of luminaries will feature Eric Garcetti (President of the L.A. City Council), Larry Kosmont (President and C.E.O. of Kosmont Companies), Randall Lewis (Executive Vice President of the Lewis Group of Companies), Jerry Snyder (of J.H. Snyder Company) and David Team (President of the Property Group of LNR Property Corporation in Miami Beach).

At lunch, famed urban policy analyst Joel Kotkin will focus on the growth trends of cities, with commentary by Director of L.A. City Planning Gail Goldberg.

Other development and planning sessions will focus on such topics as: Global Warming and Real Estate (with highly-regarded real estate attorneys Jim Arnone of Latham & Watkins and Craig Moyer of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, Gary Patton, the Executive Director of The Planning and Conservation League and Will Travis, the Executive Director of the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission); How to Build Green Without Going into the Red (with Dr. Malcolm Lewis, President of CTG, Mark McVay, Principal of the Smith Group and Barbara Wagner, Senior Vice President of Clark Construction Group, in a panel moderated by respected Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis partner Bryan Jackson); and Getting the Most out of Contractor and AIA Agreements (featuring an all-star team of Mehrdad Farivar of Morris Polich & Purdy, Mona Dajani of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal and Larry Lubka of Hunt Ortmann Palffy Nieves Lubka Darling & Mah).

Through the day, we'll have over 60 nationally renowned speakers who will fill you in on the latest developments in this changing market. While the USC Real Estate Law and Business conference is always the top law and business conference in the area, the 2008 conference promises to be a show stopper.

We look forward to seeing you on April 24 at the Biltmore for the USC 2008 Real Estate Law and Business conference. Register Now! or Download the full programming brochure (PDF, 332 KB).
