ULI Fall Meeting in Las VegasOctober 23, 2007
2007 ULI Fall Meeting Make plans now to attend the 2007 ULI Fall Meeting in Las Vegas, October 23–26.Contrary to the well-known advertising slogan, what happens during our four full days of programming will not stay in Las Vegas. It's too good not to share. You'll leave with rich, timely community building information that is clearly meant to be widely applied. Sustainable development is sure to be the underpinning of much discussion. It is defined by a triple bottom-line—people, planet, and profit—but just how do you measure the environmental, social, and economic benefits? That's just one of the questions we will explore. As we all know, our greatest assets are our human resources— both in business and in our personal lives. Her Majesty Queen Noor will help us explore the importance of understanding human generosity in our everyday lives. Any number of speakers will dissect the capital markets and investment trends. For a clear view of what the next five to seven years will bring, world-class economist Michael Boskin will give us his prognosis. Boskin has been a major adviser to every Republican president and candidate since Ronald Reagan and currently advises Rudy Giuliani, the premier of China, and the People's Bank of China. Collaboration requires a different style of leadership, and we will hear from one of the most influential voices in this arena, Bill George. Former CEO of Medtronics which grew by 35 percent per year on his watch from $1.1 billion to $60 billion, George now serves as a professor of management practice at the Harvard Business School. His latest book is True North: Discover Your Authentic Leadership. People, planet, profit. No one has thought more about all three than our closing speaker, Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations and the first leader from Africa to hold that job. Through his leadership, the U.N. bolstered relationships with businesses and civil society groups, sponsoring a Global Compact initiative to promote corporate social responsibility. And, as land use professionals, we can learn from Las Vegas itself. As one of the fastest-growing areas in the nation, Las Vegas ranks among the nation's "hot spots" in the Sunbelt and South for population surges in the years ahead. The ability of this city, and others in these regions, to accommodate new residents through wise land development is setting the tone for 21stcentury growth patterns. Join us in Las Vegas for information sharing, lessons learned, and networking. There is simply no way for you to lose. Guaranteed. Register Online Now or download a faxable registration form (PDF).
