An Elegant Evening at the Argyle Hotel: Membership Networking ReceptionJune 17, 2003Designed in 1929 by architect Leland A. Bryant, the Sunset Tower was a landmark from the moment it opened. Its dramatic siting on the Sunset Strip and elegant Art Deco styling, together with its proximity to the famous restaurants and nightclubs of the 30's and 40's, contributed to its appeal. After several attempts to demolish the building in the late 70's and early 80's, the building sat derelict for several years. In 1986 it was purchased by the St. James Club of Great Britain and was completely renovated and restored. The Argyle Hotel continues to serve the film industry as both a popular site for location shoots as well as a temporary residence.DATE/TIME Tuesday, June 17, 2003 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. On-site registration 7:30 - 7:45 p.m. Introduction of incoming ULI LA leadership 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Networking LOCATION The Argyle Hotel 8358 Sunset Boulevard West Hollywood, California 90069 (between the Mondrian and the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip) more information: http://www.argylehotel.com/home.html PARKING Validated parking provided.
